Our team of expert clinical and support staff focuses on excellence in rebuilding people's lives. Each year, we recognize award recipients who have gone above and beyond to help us be at the forefront of specialized rehabilitation care. Recipients are nominated by their colleagues.
2010-11 Award of Excellence
The hospital's highest recognition of remarkable employee achievement.

Achievement: Ontario Case Costing Initiative
Ontario Case Costing is an initiative of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. This team developed a model for calculating the specific costs of delivering rehabilitation care. They collected and analyzed a great deal of financial, demographic and patient usage data to reduce errors in their information. As a result of their hard work, we have access to better-quality data that supports our research activities, management decisions and funding levels.

Achievement: All About Stroke program
This team developed and implemented the All About Stroke education program for stroke survivors and their families. The program helps patients and their families to understand the new realities of living with a stroke and to take an active role in their rehabilitation and future health.
Recipients: Shirlene Campbell, Betty Cheung, Esther Chung, Linda Nasturzio, Krista Richards, Jennifer Shaffer, Janice Tsui and Karen Uy
Achievement: Mission to Haiti
This team planned an international relief effort to help survivors of the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Five of these team members travelled to Haiti to care for amputees and stroke survivors, and also provided education on rehabilitation techniques for local health professionals.
2010-11 Aspiring Leader Award
Award recipient has risen to the challenge of a leadership role through skill development, service delivery and relationship building.
