Volunteer Program

You can make a difference

Our volunteer team is made up of a dedicated group of students and adults. The team contributes more than 21,000 hours of service per year.

Requirements:

  • To ensure consistency of service to our patients, all volunteers are asked to make a 50-hour commitment.
  • Volunteers must be 14 years of age or over.
  • Volunteers under the age of 18 must have their parents/guardian sign the volunteer application form.

What positions are available?

There are several different volunteer positions at St. John’s Rehab. We will work with you to find a placement that best matches your interests with the needs of the hospital.

Positions include:

  • Meal tray delivery
  • Gift shop attendant
  • Chapel porter
  • Physiotherapy porter
  • Administration support
  • Library
  • Nursing unit assistant
  • Special events
  • Research

Applying to become a volunteer:

Please note: Summer 2011 volunteer positions have been filled, but we look forward to receiving your application for September 2011.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please print and fill out an application form and two reference forms. Application and reference forms can also be found at the Information Desk in the main lobby of St. John’s Rehab Hospital.

Please submit the application and reference forms to the Information Desk at St. John’s Rehab Hospital. Your application will be placed on file. When a suitable position becomes available, you will be invited to attend an interview and a general hospital orientation.

If accepted as a volunteer, you will need to:

  • Complete a two-step TB skin test
  • Complete a confidentiality form
  • Complete a volunteer agreement form
