We’ve begun building our future!
Construction to help meet the rehab needs of the 21st century
To address the growing demand for rehabilitation, St. John’s Rehab Hospital
has begun construction that will lead to our first major renovation in more
than 35 years.
The current phase – scheduled to continue through the summer of 2009 – includes reconstruction of the hospital’s west parking lot, receiving dock and site services. This will pave the way to begin redeveloping the hospital’s patient care areas later this year. Learn more...
Reducing the wait for rehab care
Expanding therapy and admissions
to rebuild more lives
Imagine that you’re in your local hospital for a serious medical condition. Thanks to life-saving treatment, you become well enough to begin rebuilding your life.
But instead of heading to a rehabilitation facility, you must wait at your acute care hospital for two extra days. Why? Because you’re ready on
Saturday, but a rehab bed won’t be
ready until Monday.
Imagine that another medical situation forces you to an emergency room. Again, you’re forced to wait. Why? Because someone else is occupying the hospital bed you need. They’re also waiting – for discharge to a rehab hospital.
These two situations face hundreds of Ontarians every day, and the need for health care will only grow. St. John’s Rehab Hospital is helping by building much needed capacity for rehab care. Learn more...
Rebuilding lives through research

Whether it is a new discovery that helps amputee patients manage phantom pain, a new treatment that helps burn patients regain mobility, or a new approach that helps seniors cope with depression, every day, advancements in rehabilitation research can vastly improve people’s lives.
St. John’s Rehab Hospital has launched a progressive research program to rebuild lives through innovative rehab care. By combining patient care with research, we will evaluate and develop new, beneficial treatments that allow patients to return home sooner and in better health. Learn more...
