Helping wounds heal

Hospital pilots advanced wound rehabilitation

Many people who have been in a hospital for an extended time not only have to overcome their primary medical condition, they may also have to deal with painful and potentially dangerous wounds that come from traumatic injuries, surgery or pressure ulcers (commonly known as bed sores).

Managing these wounds - and the pain, scarring or infection they may cause - requires advanced, specialized techniques. This is why St. John's Rehab developed a specialized wound rehabilitation pilot program in partnership with Women's College Hospital. Learn more...

The Board of Directors of St. John's Rehab Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Joyce Bailey as its Chair, effective June 23, 2008.

At its Annual General Meeting on Monday, June 23, the Board of Directors also announced the appointment of four new members: Mr. Dennis Darby, President and CEO of the Ontario Pharmacists' Association; Ms. Caroline Pinto, Founding Principal of Counsel Public Affairs Inc.; Ms. Hilary Short, recently retired President and CEO of the Ontario Hospital Association; and Mr. David Taylor, Principal of Asset Directions Inc. 11th Annual Rehab Golf Classic raises more than $107,000

What's it take to rebuild people's lives? It takes the green - as well as the fairway and the tee deck!

On June 9, 2008, nearly 150 supporters of St. John's Rehab Hospital hit the tees for a beautiful day of golf at the 2008 Rehab Golf Classic. This 11th annual event raised more than $107,000 for the hospital - the second straight year that we've broken the $100,000 mark!

University of Toronto: Occupational Therapists

St. John’s Rehab’s Occupational Therapists have received an award for numerous contributions during 2007-2008 to the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto. The award recognizes contributions to several areas of occupational therapy education.

University of Toronto: Dr. Joel Fish

Dr. Fish, St. John's Rehab's Chief Medical Officer, was recently awarded the prestigious Charles Tator Surgeon-Scientist Mentoring Award in recognition of his passion for research and his exceptional mentoring of research residents in the University of Toronto's Surgeon Scientist Program.

University of Toronto: Dr. Morty Eisenberg

Dr. Eisenberg, hospitalist at St. John's Rehab Hospital and a leader in our musculoskeletal and wound care programs, recently received the Outstanding Teaching in Family Medicine Community Elective Award.The award recognized his mentorship of students in the University of Toronto's Family and Community Medicine Undergraduate Education Program.
