Giving the gift of research

With research comes innovation, knowledge, and growth - paving the way for improved rehab care.

Recently, former patient Douglas Martin generously pledged $225,000 for The Douglas Martin Trauma and Musculoskeletal Research Fund. With this gift, we can delve deeper into musculoskeletal research and discover new, more effective techniques to help people recover sooner and in better health.

Barbara and Warren Goldring have generously granted the Goldring Bursary for Research in Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation- the first bursary of its kind in the field. In addition, The Carlo Fidani Foundation will be supporting another upcoming research project. In doubling their $1 million dollar gift, John Craig and Sally Horsfall Eaton have added a second $1 million pledge for education and research.

These gifts have allowed St. John's Rehab Hospital to welcome Dr. Manuel Gomez to the role of Director of Research.

Dr. Gomez recently worked in partnership with St. John's Rehab and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre to publish research on the long-term effects of low-voltage electrical injuries in the Journal of Burn Care and Research. As a notable burn researcher and 20-year veteran of the health care industry, Dr. Gomez will focus on furthering the growth of research at the hospital.

Have you thought about contributing to research, education, equipment and other growing needs at St. John's Rehab? Please visit the Foundation section to find out how to give.
