Our whole person approach to rehabilitation promises to provide excellence in care and service with a focus on meeting your individual needs. We therefore encourage you to become familiar with your rights and responsibilities.
Your rights as a patient
- To be treated in a considerate and respectful manner which considers your privacy and your right to confidentiality;
- To receive relevant information and education concerning your condition,diagnosis, treatment and prognosis in a manner which is understandable to you;
- To be assured that St. John’s Rehab Hospital is committed to providing a safe,therapeutic environment;
- To know who is treating you and be confident that the interdisciplinary care team is communicating with each other and with you;
- To agree to or refuse any treatment or procedure with an understanding of the health implications of such refusal;
- To express concerns and have such concerns addressed promptly;
- To have the choice of participating in research, studies and surveys.
Your responsibilities as a patient
- To respect staff, patients, families and others;
- To actively commit to your treatment through regular attendance and participation in prescribed programs to the best of your ability;
- To accept responsibility for all decisions you have made regarding your care;
- To provide the hospital with accurate and relevant information in order to help the care team provide appropriate treatment;
- To recognize that providers have the right to withhold treatment that is considered to be unethical or medically inappropriate;
- To respect hospital property and comply with hospital policies;
- To understand St. John's Rehab's role as a teaching and research hospital;
- To pay for all uninsured services.
