Building Our Future: Hospital Redevelopment
Rehabilitation is the new medical frontier.
We and our loved ones now routinely survive traumatic injuries, life-threatening strokes and heart attacks, debilitating cancer, organ and joint failures.
With this good news comes an important new need: complex, intensive rehabilitation that allows people to overcome their conditions to reach their full potential and return to active lives.
Today, our extraordinary team of health professionals is hampered by an acute shortage of space, outdated infrastructure and a growing need for advanced technology and equipment.
To ensure St. John's Rehab Hospital is equipped to meet the rehabilitation needs of the 21st century, we are planning our first major renovation in more than 35 years.
This redevelopment project will bring our outpatient services under one roof: the 49,000-square foot, state-of-the-art John C. and Sally Horsfall Eaton Centre for Ambulatory Care. We will renovate our inpatient wing to expand and enhance treatment space. We will also develop new outdoor features including more accessible parking, main entrances and therapy gardens.
This project will help us return people to active, productive lives in their homes, communities and places of work. We anticipate construction will take place from Fall 2008 - Summer 2012.
