Construction Impacts

CONSTRUCTION NOTICES
Please exercise caution and patience when on the hospital's campus. For your safety, please stay clear of any construction areas and equipment.
PARKING
April 2010 - Fall 2011
- Driveway access is limited during construction. A minimum clearance is maintained to ensure that all vehicles, foot traffic and emergency vehicles can access the hospital.
- Parking space is significantly reduced as we reconstruct our parking lots.
- Please exercise caution and patience when walking or driving towards and away from the hospital.
TEMPORARY MAIN ENTRANCE
April 2010 - Fall 2011
- The main entrance of the hospital has been temporarily moved to the Beatty wing on the west end of the campus.
- Please follow signs to the temporary main entrance.
- The main reception/information desk continues to be located in the Agnew (east) entrance. Please follow signs posted in the hospital to guide you to the correct locations.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE CURRENT PHASE
The second phase of construction involves the development of the new wing, along with facility improvements to the existing wings. This phase is currently ongoing and will continue to Fall 2011. Shortly afterwards, we will begin renovations for the new inpatient unit.
As with any major construction project, there will be some minor inconveniences along the way.
During this phase, we expect:
- Limited access to the hospital’s footpaths, walking trails, patios and gardens
- Dirt and construction vehicles along the hospital’s driveway, parking lots and Cummer Avenue
- Some construction noise during daytime hours
- Closed access at the driveway and at the main Agnew (east) wing entrance
- Reduced parking availability
Upon arriving at the hospital, signs will guide you to available parking areas.
As patients and visitors will continue to need parking, we have arranged for temporary staff parking at the Willowdale Pentecosta Church (288 Cummer Ave.). This arrangement has existed since March 2009 and will continue to cause some additional foot traffic in the area.
We thank our staff, patients, visitors, partners and our Willowdale neighbours for your patience and understanding. Your support will help us develop this important new facility for the patients who need our care.
Safety notes:
For your safety, please exercise extreme caution and be aware of your surroundings when crossing the street and when near any construction areas.
