Redevelopment Funding

St. John's Rehab Hospital's redevelopment is funded thanks to the vision and generosity of two major sources:

Provincial Government

In 2006, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care confirmed its approval of, and investment in, the St. John's Rehab Hospital redevelopment project. The provincial government has already funded the development of preliminary design work. The government will also fund the large majority of the capital costs associated with the development of our new outpatient wing, the renovation of our inpatient wing, loading areas, site services and parking.

Our Community

While the provincial government funds the majority of the project, it is under the agreement that the hospital works with our community to raise money to complete the project. These remaining funds for the building, as well as for all treatment equipment, come from our generous community of donors.

St. John's Rehab Foundation's $15 million Rebuilding Lives campaign has raised funds for the redevelopment, treatment equipment, staff education and groundbreaking research. The following list represents donors of $100,000 to $5 million to the campaign:

  • The Sisterhood of St. John the Divine through the Ashforth Trust
  • John C. and Sally Horsfall Eaton
  • St. John's Rehab Hospital Volunteer Association
  • Stephan & Sophie Lewar
  • Alex and Simona Shnaider
  • Jean and Doug Martin
  • Carpenters' Untion, Central Ontario Regional Council
  • Interior Systems Contractors Association of Ontario
  • Universal Workers Union, Local 183 Toronto
  • Power Corporation of Canada
  • RBC Foundation
  • Barbara and Warren Goldring
  • Orlando Corporation
  • The John and Myrna Daniels Charitable Foundation
  • The Rudolph P. Bratty Family Foundation
  • CIBC
  • Raymond Chang
  • Procter & Gamble Inc.

Thank you to our partners in government and the community! You are truly helping to rebuild people’s lives and to make our new facility a reality.
