Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Research

St. John's Rehab offers interdisciplinary care to adults with complex orthopaedic rehabilitation needs and for those recovering from elective joint replacement surgeries. With comprehensive therapy, St. John's Rehab helps patients improve function and mobility so they can get back to their community and their lives.

Current musculoskeletal research projects:
  • The Utilization of Nintendo Wii ® in Outpatient Rehabilitation of Patients Following Total Knee Replacement
    Researchers: Vera Fung, Aileen Ho, Barbara Panturescu, Esther Park, Jennifer Shaffer, Terrence Yuen, and Dr. Manuel Gomez

  • Validation of the 2- and 6-minute walk tests as functional measures in patients receiving rehabilitation following total hip or knee arthroplasty
    Researchers: Maria Lung, Leslie Edmison, Beth Mahy, Dr. Manuel Gomez, Dina Brooks, and Nancy Salbach

  • Outcomes of 7 days per week inpatient rehabilitation therapy and admission to a rehabilitation hospital among patients following joint replacements
    Researchers: Marie Disotto-Monastero, Shelby Fisch, Samantha Graham, Elizabeth Villar-Guerrero, Fay Lim-Lambie, Eleanor Leggat, and Dr. Manuel Gomez
