Amputee Rehabilitation Research

St. John's Rehab Hospital offers individually customized inpatient and outpatient programs for adults with limb amputations resulting from diabetes, vascular injuries and disease, trauma, work related injuries and oncological reconstruction. With customized treatment, education and support, St. John's Rehab helps patients regain their independence so they can return to their work, their community, and their lives.

Current amputee research projects:
  • Modified Berg Balance Scale for assessment of patients with prosthesis following unilateral and bilateral below knee amputation
    Researchers: Maria Lung and Dr. Manuel Gomez

  • Hip abductor strength training to improve functional gait performance in diabetic patients with unilateral, above-knee amputation
    Researchers: Tim Pauley, Michael Devlin
