St. John's Rehab and Sunnybrook Integration
On July 18, 2011, the Boards of Directors of St. John’s Rehab Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre announced they had reached a voluntary agreement on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that would merge the two organizations into a single, comprehensive health care provider.
On October 25, the Toronto Central and Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) Boards of Directors unanimously passed motions permitting the proposed merger to move forward. The next step is to bring a presentation to both hospital boards in November. If both boards approve, the merger will be presented to the Minister of Health and Long Term Care for final approval.
